Access and eligibility
Access
To access the National Disability Insurance Scheme, participants are assessed against a range of criteria with a focus on providing supports to achieve their goals. The NDIS covers a wide range of disability supports, services and equipment. It provides funding for participants to help do things that improve their quality of life.
When a plan is created for the participant once they have been approved for one, it is important for the participant to perfect their plan in order to access the right supports and services that are going to help in the long run. When the NDIA looks at eligibility for a new participant, they are looking at whether a person’s condition is likely to be permanent. They don’t necessarily look at individual disabilities or illnesses unless it is to provide evidence of permanence. This is usually demonstrated through an evidence of your disability form.
